The Daily Decision for 7.25.16

The Early Take on the Market:
Although it is late July and vacation season is in full swing, there is an awful lot for market players to deal with this week. First, it's an options expiration week. Next, the Federal Reserve's Open Market Committee (FOMC) meets and announce their decision on Wednesday (no changes are expected). Speaking of central bankers, the Bank of Japan meets Friday, with expectations running high that the country's QE program will be expanded (again). Traders will also be watching oil as a barrel of West Texas Intermediate Crude for September delivery traded below $44 this morning, which is near the lowest level since August 2015. In addition, the Democratic National Convention and the accompanying drama will be in focus all week. And finally, traders will have to reconcile their feeling regarding the continuing terror events. Since Friday there have been suicide bombings in Baghdad, Kabul, and Anbach, Germany, and a shooting at a Florida night club. So far at least, markets have taken these events in stride, which is both reassuring and sad. But with that said, we will move onward and continue to monitor the markets in an objective manner. Have a great day!

Current Market Environment Model Reading:

Daily Decision Performance:

Below is a summary of the live and backtested returns of strategies provided in the Daily Decisions service.

Before we ever invest our hard earned capital in a market strategy, we believe it is important to thoroughly test the system in different market environments. While all system tests have flaws, the idea is that a backtest can provide us with (1) proof of concept and (2) an indication of what we might be able to expect from the system in different market environments. And from a longer-term standpoint, we are pleased with the way the systems perform in most market environments.
