Screening Results: $MKRS $GNUS $SPRO $HPTO $CICI $PRPH $IWC $DIRI $RSSS

Few companies we looked at today, nothing insanely promising or near current ideas, but interesting for idea generation.

PRPH - Owner of Cold-EEZE FY revenue down $2.9M to $22.1M and Net income down to $(0.47) per share from $0.03 a share a year ago. But, the company release two new products that will be on shelves, and settled costly litigation with former managers. All in all, the litigation expenses are out of the way and the parties returned $5.1M in stock and paid $440K to the company. Granted legal expenses only costed $537K and did not account for decreased revenue. I've tried the product and it didn't work for me, but I'll be watching to see how the two new products do in the market.

CICI: Tiny $3.5M Technology company focused on electronic signatures, used currently by Fortune 100 companies already and provides hundreds of millions of signatures every year. With this exposure already, and not a fruitful income statement, I am wondering where the growth will be moving forward. Interesting company I am looking into this.

HPTO - brings Windows Apps to your phone / iPad. Not sure the need with office 365 and Google docs / drive.

GNUS - The Baby Genius marketing / educational brand. Signed a lot of partnerships / deals lately, but nothing that has provided a massive boost if any to revenue.

MKRS: $5M company with FY14 revenue up 80% to $5.53M, and Net income of $533K vs $147K in 2013. Also, has a $5.5M backlog. Problem is that the company is linked to government orders and contracts, but they do have several contracts underway and extended. These are mostly related to navy radar products and combat system equipment. Still looking into this one.

SPRO: $8M company provides education and training to individuals and organizations for professional areas (accounting, finance and financial services etc). Interesting and leverageable business model, but results have been bad. Net Loss down to $(1.64M) from $143K last year. Granted they do have $4.8M in cash, but they now have a large burn rate if they can't turn things around.

Nothing insanely promising or near the level  Direct Insite and Research Solutions, but interesting for idea generation.

Cheers,
